Histopathological Diagnosis of Aural Specimen

(Clinical History)


 

            

Clinical details:                                        

The information needed will depend to some extent on  which part of the ear the submitted specimen is from.

When dealing with specimens from the external ear, the clinical details needed are the same as for skin tumours and inflammatory lesions at any site except for relapsing  polychondritis, when a history of nasal and/or laryngeal erosion should be provided.

Visit: Normal Anatomy of the Ear ; Histopathological examination of Aural Biopsy - External Ear ; Histopathological diagnosis of Aural Biopsy - Middle Ear ; Histopathological examination of Aural Biopsy- Inner Ear.

     The additional information required in certain situations is :

- Age of the patient;

- Symptoms and their duration;

- Clinical diagnosis;

- Radiological features;

- Previous history of otitis or ear surgery;

- History of neurofibromatosis.
